Tours is the capital of Touraine, a French region rich in history, castles and vineyards. It is amidst this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Loire Valley that the International Festival of Abstract and Surrealist Photography will open to the public in May 2026.

Iconic exhibition venues

The Central Market in Tours

Les Halles de Tours, the heart of Tours’ culinary scene, overlooks one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions: Old Tours. Les Halles has set aside an entire 175 square foot gallery for the ABSURIA Festival.

The National Gallery

The main open space on the main thoroughfare in the centre of Tours. Three large galleries, each covering 600 square foot, on the ground floor have been made available to the International Festival of Abstract and Surrealist Photography. The spaces at the Galerie Nationale are three prime venues for exhibiting works of abstract art and urban surrealism.

The gardens of the city of Tours

These are two major biodiversity areas in the City of Tours that primarily feature surrealist or abstract nature photography: the 2,700 square foot François Sicard Garden and the 4,800 square foot Prefecture Garden.
